How to Obtain Your Three Year Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit

How do I get my Three Year Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit which will allow me to begin substitute teaching?

In order to qualify for a Three Year Substitute Permit, a person needs to hold a Bachelor's Degree (not a teaching degree) from an accredited institution.

A training must be taken.  TEAM EDUCATORS provides a one day training for those interested in becoming substitute teachers.  This training is endorsed by the Department of Public Instruction (D.P.I.).  At the training, TEAM EDUCATORS will provide the D.P.I. Three Year Permit application form, fingerprint cards, along with an explanation of the application process.

After the training is completed, the following materials need to be submitted to the D.P.I.:

http://www.frontpage-templates.org/frontpage-graphics/free-bullets/images/BOXOPEN3_GIF.jpg    A completed License Application form (PI-1602-SP), signed by a sponsoring school district

http://www.frontpage-templates.org/frontpage-graphics/free-bullets/images/BOXOPEN3_GIF.jpg    An original transcript verifying the applicant's Bachelor's Degree

          http://www.frontpage-templates.org/frontpage-graphics/free-bullets/images/BOXOPEN3_GIF.jpg    Fingerprint cards, if required

http://www.frontpage-templates.org/frontpage-graphics/free-bullets/images/BOXOPEN3_GIF.jpg    Proof of having taken a substitute teacher training

Once the Substitute Teacher Permit is received, the person may contact a public, private, or parochial school to inquire about substitute teaching for that school district/school.

Check the D.P.I. website for further information.  (http://www.dpi.wi.gov/tepdl).
